While the Jester rolls and fools for laughs

And the Author scrives for reads

Bards of Avon charm for fatted calf

Armed with verse and lute and reed

***

Have you ever seen a sober Fool

Or an Author none the wise

Bards from Avon have no ought of drool

To enchant until sunrise

***

As the Jester fools and the Author writes

Bards of Avon bide their time

Each performing rich delights

But only one can soar in rhyme

***

While a Jester rolls and fools for laughs

And an Author scrives for reads

The Bard is armed with dearth of staff

Lute and Air is all he needs
