Ballad of Empty Heart

A poem I wrote as a teenager after my first break-up

empty hollow heart

breaking, torn apart

it put up a fight

without a hope insight

it cracked

before it can be filled

****

darkened quiet soul

can't find a light in this hole

angel wings can't fly

with the will to die

can't you tell

that I've just fell

*****

you broke me before you knew me

without the violence you killed me

now my whole world is falling down

to be buried in the ground

****

teary deep green eyes

have seen their last goodbyes

they've drowned in a sea

of sorrowful plea

for love

all for love
