I go to a wonderful writer's group called "Poetry Preserves". In this group we read a poem the moderator picks out, discuss it and then write about it and likewise we view a piece of art, discuss it and write about it. You can of course write about whatever you like or you can follow the poem and art as a prompt. The above piece of art inspired the below poem.

moments are fleeting

the sun shares with the moon

day to night

the abacus always shifting

right to left

left to right

balance seems hard to find

but it's there if you

pull it in.

everything starts

and stops again and again.

there's a second chance

every day of the week

if you open up

you may find what you seek.

the wind blows the trees

who drop their leaves

caught up in the breeze

floating down with ease.

The wind doesn't hate

nor does the sun

it rises and sets

when the day is done.

If you look around

you'll find the balance

in the world

there's really no challenge

that can't be unfurled.

    Interesting!

  • In my opinion this is one of the best pieces I have read from you. My opinion is just that. It strongly appealed to me and was an example of letting the mind roll with the heart at the same time. The pen your conduit. Excellent poem!
