Baggage

a poem

some things we put in boxes

some things we leave behind

like hopes and dreams

and shattered things

like mirrors and our minds

you pack your bags with feelings

you lock them with a key

and close it tight

to open when you get there

wherever that may be

to reach a destination

you often travel light

and shed the tears

of many years

of baggage lost in your flight

some things we put in boxes

some things we left behind

in false promises

to ourselves

to retrieve them at a future time

time will steal our past away

and no amount of gold

and no amount of pleading

will return to us

what's been bought and sold

sad poetry

WOW! This poem packs a PUNCH! This is well written and expert analogy is used here! I can't wait to read it again multiple times. Congrats on being featured in Vocal's "Creators We're Loving " today. That's how I found you 😊
