Awakening Light

A poem

By Char WilcoxPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

I feel a shell cracking

I feel the need to dance to the beat of a thousand drums.

I feel the voice inside me scratching at my throat to scream

into the void

to wake my ancestors.

I feel a veil dropping

I feel the need to burn by the fire and freeze in the cold,

waking senses that have been dulled, taken, nullified.

I feel the voice inside me howl

into the void

to wake my companions

for at dawn, we ride.

We let our light shine.

We sing our voices high, with the first song of the waking birds.

We know where to meet as the strength of our ancestors guides us, heartbeat cadence for pace.

In the energy of the new day we awaken, our purpose divine, aligned, and in perfect time.

Good morning Goddess, your day has arrived.
