Auburn Smile
Love at first sight

Orange and blue flames indicated
my entry into your atmosphere.
Clouds caught fire as I fell,
yet I showed no fear.
Blue and green oceans
shimmered crystal clear.
Golden retrievers flickered silver
as they patrolled and chased deer.
Feet to earth, each step weighed its worth.
Sword drawn, in case any skeletons
decided to step forth.
Palm pressed to the stones of
your castle walls, the vanguards
saw my eyes and felt my cause.
The doors parted, allowing my journey
to come to an end from whence it started.
Face to face, my heart surrendered the world and offered its depths,
heights, lefts, rights and all of the above.
An auburn smile was returned,
in the simple form of love.
Falling for you felt as natural
as the leaves in autumn.
Sinking with speed, my toes
touched the sands of your
heart’s ocean bottom.
Using both feet, I was able to
plant love where it has been long forgotten.
Waited a moment, then swam
to the surface just in time
for it to blossom.
I’m addicted to the way
Atlantic seashells dangle
around your neck.
I love the way you walk
around barefoot on the splintered deck.
You have power & I have the proof.
You’re the best part of a vacation.
You’re the beer equipped
beach chair on the roof.
I get lost inside of your
sugar-free complexion.
Your gluten free diet
& diabetic injections.
I fell in love with the way
you order your coffee,
along with your steeped hatred for plastics.
I’m addicted to how you make me
feel intergalactic.
You’re an auburn super model,
scuttling my gluttonous
destroyers attempting to flank
love’s hind-headquarters.
Weakened from heartbreak,
my supply lines fell to the
mercy of your flak guns.
Without extraction,
I parachuted blind
into the center of
a nuclear reaction.
Falling prisoner
to the law of
gravitational
attraction.
