In the heart of Egypt, where the Nile flows free,
Stands the Aswan Dam, a marvel to see.
Its waters held back, its power harnessed,
But at what cost, are we truly blessed?
For beneath its depths lie treasures untold,
Priceless archaeological sites of old.
Temples and tombs, lost to the flood,
Their secrets submerged, in the river's mud.
From Abu Simbel to Philae's shore,
Ancient wonders, forevermore.
Carved by hands of long-lost kings,
Now lost to time, as the water sings.
The Temple of Isis, once a beacon of light,
Now lies beneath the waters, out of sight.
Its columns and statues, swallowed whole,
By the Aswan Dam, its unforgiving toll.
And so we mourn the loss, of treasures rare,
Submerged beneath the waters, without a care.
For though progress marches on, we must ask,
At what price do we complete this task?
For as the waters rise, and the past is lost,
We must remember the lessons, at what cost.
The Aswan Dam may bring power and light,
But its shadow looms over history's flight.
