For a long time,
village roads were lined,
with shade-giving trees,
mango, and java plum,
tamarind, and neem.
Pedestrians rested,
and foraged in season.
Birds had nests,
and cattle took shelter too.
The world was cool,
people cared for the earth,
and had conscience.
Then they decided,
the road needs,
to be widened,
and the ancient trees
must go.
The machines came,
and hacked down,
all the trees!
Now,
the road is sure wide,
but not a tinge of shade.
People go in AC cars,
but it’s not the same thing.
The perpetrators,
are drawing the ire,
of the critters.
In time,
the cruel decisions
will backfire.

Cutting down trees, to move forward in progress. When in reality, it's raping the land and destroying our health
This is quiet rage wrapped in poetry. The contrast between what was and what is now hits hard—and the final lines feel like a whispered prophecy. A powerful reminder that when we sever our roots, nature always remembers.
