As I See the Fireworks from My Window
I hope, they are vigilant for we live in tinderbox chaparral

I was sitting at my study nook,
when I heard the booms,
of July 4th fireworks.
I peered outside the window,
to see a frenzy of
light, sparks, smoke,
going on in multiple places,
just below the hills!
The slopes are parched,
with dry biomass,
almost tinderbox
ready to burn,
and turn to wildfires.
Not long ago,
we saw how Los Angeles,
was charred viciously,
and it's not far.
I hope they know,
what they’re doing,
and they have resources
to handle mishaps,
for it can lead to catastrophes.
Tradition and pleasure
often make us blind,
and we forget common sense.
If it's a firework displays,
near a waterbody,
with low fire risks,
it may be fine,
but when you set fireworks
in the middle of chaparral,
it’s a red flag!
As such it's shame,
to send the pollutants,
to the atmosphere,
to that, this added trouble.
I truly hope,
they know, what they’re doing.

Really hoping all was safe last night for you and yours. Ours was wet here, so our neighbors setting off theirs we didn't have to worry about
Good job and it being so dry and I wonder why they are even setting them off there and not somewhere safer.
You’ve captured the tension between celebration and risk so well here.
