Armor

A short poem

By KevoPublished about a year ago 1 min read

What goes on, in donning a suit of armor?

The gambeson, the soft, final layer of defense.

It goes on in pieces, bit by bit.

The chain mail, a hard yet flexible layer to deflect glancing blows.

Putting on the armor is a laborious and time consuming process.

The greaves, to protect the legs.

It often requires the help of a partner.

The cuirass, to take the brunt of attacks.

Shedding the armor is an even more difficult procedure.

The pauldrons and vambraces, to protect the shoulders and arms.

Which is why many choose to never take off their armor.

The helmet, to mask the face from the world.
