Archie: Work In Progress

This is my first poem and it's about growing up and the morals I found growing up. Though I'm not done growing (far from it), this is me so far.

As a kid, I discerned injuries were the tariffs of existence

Being pragmatic meant to survive but optimism helped me thrive

I recognized the potential my tongue clutched to either fortify or dismantle

The remote to my mistakes remained in my grasp alone

As I became a teenager, unorganized thoughts began to submerge my mind

In heroic fabricated tales, I found authentic morals I proudly wear

The melodies that once lulled me to sleep now wove dreams

I rediscovered solace in family as we shared new time united

Now, discipline me presents strength when talent alone leaves me unsatisfied

I persist to the finale, while acknowledging only I define my limits

Time flows endlessly like the tides, yet I fear the waves engulfing me

Although nothing is guaranteed, I remain confident in my intentions
