Always lurking in shadows unknown,
Banshees of worry kiss the bone.
Creeping silently, haunting the heart,
Dread takes hold, tears you apart.
Eclipsed by the moon, the sun's warm cheer,
Fear takes root, grows wild with each tear.
Ghouls of doubt dance in your mind,
Haunting echoes of what they find.
Invisible chains bind and confine,
Just as potent as any twine.
Keeping you captive, under its sway,
Living in fear, day after day.
Monsters under the bed, you might say,
Nightmares that steal the light of day.
Overcoming them seems a Herculean task,
Paralyzed by the fearsome mask.
Quaking and trembling, in your small room,
Reality distorted by impending doom.
Shadows become monsters, noises a threat,
The world outside a dangerous bet.
Under its weight, you may bend, may bow,
Vanquished by the fears that plow.
Wandering in darkness, seeking some light,
Xeroxing terror, day and night.
Yet, remember this truth, when you're filled with fright,
Zephyrs of courage, can set things right.
