Another Challenge I Won't Win, A Villanelle
A Vocal Writer's Lament
Another challenge I won't win,
I clicked "submit" but now I'm filled with doubt.
My entry's live, the wait begins.
I refresh the page, my head's a spin,
Checking views and votes (still zero out).
Another challenge I won't win.
The winner wrote of loss and sin,
While I wrote jokes about my gout.
My entry's live, the wait begins.
I watch the Top Picks rolling in,
Each one's profound, while mine's a route
Another challenge I won't win.
The judges must think I'm on gin,
My metaphors are all played out.
My entry's live, the wait begins.
I swear next time I'll play to win,
No comedy, just tears and clout.
Another challenge I won't win.
My entry's live, the wait begins.

Boy, did I feel that
Clever writing Tim! I hope that you win again!
exactly how we all feel so often!
Oh, this is so relatable! You’ve captured that exact mix of hope, doubt, and compulsive refreshing we all know too well.
Ha! Feels like you wrote that for the bulk of us. The wait begins... Nicely done!
