Anne Boleyn
Right before her eyes She spied a basket with straw inside
Take it all and turn it around,
Take it all and turn it upside down.
Make it twisted or divine.
Make it wished upon, just not a lie.
Turn it into a dream
Where we can sit upon the seam.
The seam of reality,
With no leaves, only empty trees.
Have it be a fairytale,
But no, not a tall tale,
So it can come true as dew,
Never a lowly ruse.
Nobody but me and you
Will ever see the menacing debut
Of the princess adorned in blue,
Because in our dream, we can’t even scream.
The princess looked a mess
Even as she put on a long pretty dress,
She didn’t seem to notice all the red
When she stepped around the bed.
Right before her eyes
She spied a basket with straw inside,
And nestled quite firmly in straw
She found the head of one in-law!
Not a gasp or a scream
Came from the princess clapping with glee
To find it was actually the queen
No longer able to be mean.
Happy and content
She ran to tell her favorite servant,
But instead of chattering maids,
She found domineering Hades.
He was in masquerade attire
But looked ready to retire,
Worn out from a night drinking too much gin,
Likely the one who committed the sin.
“Tell me sir, why did you murder her so?
You took her head with just one blow,
But I don’t suppose she was a terror
To one who is never in error.”
“My dear Anne,
Who you see is not Catherine,
Instead look deep within
And realize this is actually Boleyn.”
