Animal Farm rules broken over time

inspired by George Orwell

we are all gathered here, gutted

to discuss the most important matters

only for us, no one else

to alleviate the sources of our despair

Snowball is on the run, a secret spy

he is plotting behind our backs

cooperating with Jones and other animals:

hens, sheep, cows, geese, and even rats

bloodshed all over the place

cos “all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others”

thus, someone ruined the Seven Commandments

Squealer breaks the news by turning facts into lies

smart pigs put words into others’ mouths

to let them think and behave the way they want

drinking alcohol and sleeping in beds

no sheets, that makes a difference

it matters to whatever political propaganda perpetrates

it prevails and “Napoleon is always right”

beware if you think otherwise

they will beat you like an egg

and they will smash into pieces everything you intend

to do for justice

are pigs smarter?

even kids don’t fully believe in fairy tales ;

and the overthrown of the human race

in the name

of Animalism

it turned into their own slaughter

oh, what a shame!

It seems strange that for someone like me who loves to read, I have never read "Animal Farm", an iconic piece of literature if ever there was one. And I'm guessing that if I'm to truly understand your poem, I probably should get to reading it, lol. Nevertheless, I do believe I get the gist of it & like it very much.
