My Heart In Limbo

And this is where you left me,

Caught between heaven and hell,

Heartbroken,

But still in love,

Caught stuck in time,

Somewhere between 1994 and 2025,

Not in sorrow,

Or joy,

But still in fondness,

Still in love,

Still in friendship,

Caught in the middle,

Stuck in between a dream,

And reality,

Not knowing which way to turn,

Do I turn?

Do I keep moving forward?

Do I remember you?

Or;

Do I forget you?

You bring me a sense of hope,

Make me feel that we can be reunited,

In hearts,

In friendship,

But then;

You refuse to speak to me,

Or even see me,

Unless I walk into the shop where I saw you,

After forty years,

You want me back in your life one minute,

Then let me go, the next;

Even though you know that you don't want to,

You make me wonder if my friendship is still valuable,

Am I not worth it, even after all these years?

Only you can answer that,

But here we are,

Stuck in the middle of a time warp,

You, trying to get back the years you lost with me,

And,

I, and my heart,

Left in limbo,

Not knowing what to do,

Or,

Whether to keep moving forward,

    You’ve really captured the ache of being caught between past and present, love and loss, hope and doubt. Awesome work.

    So many mixed emotions in this piece! Felt a sense of fondness and heartbreak at the same time. Wonderful poem!
