And Then...

A Day, Not So Typical

I woke up this morning at the start of the day.

The girl on the phone had nothing to say.

I opened my eyes and realized the dream.

The alarm was still ringing so it would seem.

I turned off the clock and counted to 10

I turned on the news, gasped, and then…

-

I arrived at work with 5 minutes to spare.

My boss was waving his hands in the air.

His veins were popping. He started to yell.

“He’s in a good mood.” But I couldn’t tell.

His skin turned red, head started to spin.

He pointed right at me, snarled, and then…

-

Breakfast was simple, granola with honey.

I could have had more, but it cost too much money.

I paid my bills, but didn’t pay them all.

I guess that is why they started to call.

They gave me more time but won’t do it again.

They threatened to sue me, arrest me, and then…

-

Then weather is pleasant but that’s just right now

It wouldn’t be long before snow hits the ground.

This was quite shocking; I tell you no lie.

It was the morning of the 4th of July.

5 people shot. A fight with 2 men.

The police responded with more shots and then…

-

I started to smile, there’s no need to fuss.

An allergic reaction had made his skill flush.

He gave me a raise, a promotion too.

He was impressed by my work. Who knew?

A corner office, a gold fountain pen,

A prime parking space, a new car and then…

-

I returned home just before eleven.

The way my day went, I felt it was heaven.

A new car, a job, a new lease on life.

I was welcomed home by my beautiful wife.

Dinner was cooking but it started to smoke.

The alarm sounded, I never awoke.
