Ancient Riddles

they would have me feast upon tainted morsels

they tried to stop me thinking for myself

they mucked around they fucked around

ground zero zapped my head my heart my health

they tied me up with ancient riddles

gave me a cover, then had it blown

and then they had the nerve to say

that it was no one’s fault but my own

this part, to this day; still eats at me

paranoia is not a gender they now know i know

but that spot has been empty a long time now

but i’m going to argue that it’s up to me to show

to show and tell to hide and to seek

i’m alive in the shadows with my best

there is only room here for me and my fear

no traps no tricks and no tests

so i tread softly where the light doesn’t show

i navigate a perilous (though no less trodden) path

as i shuffle from the rock to the hard place

knowing that this is simply destiny, cast!

it’s really dark and i don’t know where i am

i know how i got here yet my origin is now obscured

scared i might trip, lose my grip and then slip

but once completed another task has been endured

but somewhere in this envelope of failed light

the tendrils of the dark crazy creep and wind deep

they get in and about from within this weeping blackness

darker than the deepest and soundest sleep

is it about having the cake and wanting to eat it too?

let me argue till my face turns a shade of prussian blue

we know that in reality there is nothing left to do

so where does that leave me, where does that leave you?

my betters will never arise green with envy

at best they will snicker behind their hands

but they will be unarmed having only half the facts

from humble beginnings comes a full blown plan
