the weight of losing you

By Daniel KPublished about a month ago 1 min read

of all life's tests, you're the one I failed,

my room still smells like your favorite flowers,

please don't tell me our ship has sailed

-

my forsaken heart, I'll leave it jailed,

the sun can hide, I deserve the showers,

for all of life's tests, you're the one I failed.

-

wrote a thousand letters I never mailed,

their ink would prove you fill my hours,

please don't tell me our ship has sailed.

-

perhaps for you, this love has staled,

a grape not savored usually sours,

for all of life's tests, you're the one I failed.

-

of all the words the dust has veiled,

I hope I love you still holds its powers,

please don't tell me our ship has sailed.

-

the heavens know the grief I've wailed,

to lose a love as rare as ours,

of all life's tests, you're the one I failed,

please don't tell me our ship has sailed.

About the Creator

Daniel K

I write love poems about the girl who has a hold over my heart and my life in such a way that neither are my own anymore. The girl I would choose over and over and over again. I love her, and that is the beginning and end of everything.
