An Ode to Georgia Peach

The most ordinary perfect peach in the world

By Lana V LynxPublished 2 years ago 1 min read
An ordinary but most perfect Georgia peach

I'll eat you in a short second,

But for now, I'll just admire you.

The red and yellow hues of your furry skin,

The firmness and roundness of your shape,

The smell of ripeness you give out that makes

My tongue and mouth long in anticipation.

I imagine how I sink my teeth

Into your flesh, not too firm to be tasteless

And not too soft to make you drip.

It still retains your juice so that it doesn't

Run on my fingers and chin (I only like that in pears).

As I taste you, my mind will travel

To the most exotic tropical places.

A peach on a beach makes me happy.

I know all this without cutting you up

Because you are a Georgia peach,

The most beautiful ordinary peach

That costs $.99 per pound in high summer.

Time to enjoy you, perfection!

Hi Lana - I've heard from so many since my recent accident; especially from the folks at Vocal Social Society. I'm better now but just overwhelmed with the well wishes. I don't think you go onto that site - So I wanted to say back here that I've always appreciated your support and I'm so glad you've liked my silly stories/and goofy sketches; fun for me at this stage. I do miss the old timers such as Doc Sherwood & Randy Knock - I can't imagine why they just disappeared. My Respect, Jay
