A poison seeping through the cracks.
Its tendrils of envy engulfing the heart in its tracks.
Like a raging fire, it consumes with its flames.
Destroying relationships, tarnishing names.
A cruel butter thief.
Stealing happiness, causing grief.
It creeps into hearts, poisoning the mind.
Leaving behind a wake of pain and blind.
Like a storm it ravages the land.
It destroys all it can.
It twists and distorts reality's view.
Leaving behind a world painted in blue.
This green-eyed monster.
Lurks in the shadows.
Filling the mind with whispers of doubt.
Planting the seeds of sorrows.
As it festers and grows, a cancerous blight.
Turning love into resentment, day & night.
Breeding mistrust, It sows seeds of fear.
Feeding on insecurities, It draws everything near.
It turns friends into foes, lovers into rivals.
Leaving behind broken hearts & shattered spirals.
It destroys all that is dear.
Leaving behind nothing but regret and tears.
In its wake, hearts are shattered, bonds torn asunder.
Leaving behind nothing but echoes of thunder.
It us a darkness the shrouds the soul.
Leaving behind emptiness that takes its toll.
Breeding resentment, it erodes all that's true.
So let us guard against this toxic foe.
Let us beware of it's call.
For it leads us down a path of downfall.
In its place let love and trust grow.
For in the light of understanding & grace.
Shall it's power forever be erased.
