An Intimate Text Message Poem (Unintended For Publishing)

For Her. Not For Your Critique.

By Ryan Barbin aka “Dirt”Published 10 months ago 1 min read

When it rains, I miss the sunshine.

When it’s winter, I miss the fall.

Sometimes I miss the ocean,

the sound of waves crashing against the shore.

I often miss the bayou, but of course.

And all the places I’ve traveled abroad.

I often miss some of my old friends,

And all the years that have come and gone.

I miss camping way out in the woods alone,

Underneath the moon and stars.

And I miss how simple life used to seem,

When I had no idea I’d ever come this far.

But now that I’m here, in this very moment, there’s one thing that stays on my mind.

The only thing that I have ever missed more than the sun, the moon, or the stars in the sky.

More than Friends, family, memories, and good times.

More than bayous, ocean waves, tall trees or large mountains.

Nothing else can compare, nothing even comes close, to way that you light my fire.

And by that, I mean you ignite all 5 of my senses, every time you come around.

I miss the way you FEEL in my arms at night,

I miss the way you SMELL like desire.

I miss the way you LOOK when you’re falling asleep next to me,

I miss your TOUCH so much I could die.

But most of all,

I miss the way that you TASTE,

Sweeter than sugar straight out of the cane.

More delicious than the most expensive item on the menu,

More intoxicating than the finest wine ever made.

So if I had one wish, I’d wish only for this,

And I hope you take me seriously when I say,

Please come home to me soon baby boo, I’m waiting for you…

To just sit right here on my face. 😉😋
