An Innocent Love
A bond that cannot be broken

A tilt of her chin, a questing beg,
Stillness, the patience of a saint,
Her chest vibrating lustily,
Her quiet voice roaring at low decibels.
**
Her heat coats my skin, infusing emotion,
Giddiness causing my heart to beat faster,
A gentle smile graces my lips,
As she causes me to melt, like liquid sunshine.
**
A little head bump, attention seeking,
Her back against my chest, blissfully relaxed,
She’ll wait, knowing she’ll win the draw,
Eyes half closed in pure pleasure.
**
An additional nudge, a silent question,
“Why’s it taking so long,” left unasked,
She knows the message has been received,
Her language universal, even if not in English.
**
Another tilt of her chin; a well-placed silent ‘please’,
My hand automatically moving along her jawline,
She moulds her body against me, gratitude showing,
Her expressive amber eyes showering me in adoration.
About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
