An Artist's Brain

Insightfully psychotic

By Makenna BoltonPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

The brain of an artist ought to be

well thought out

A constant flurry of creativity

buzzing no doubt

The illogical order of life's control

Stains no effect

on their blank canvas soul

There's no time for pauses

No need for a rest

Even whilst the body lie still

The thinking of thoughts

cannot end at its best

I couldn't stop if I wanted to

it's not in my power

It's a heart always beating

with a slow burn to devour

Everything exists

Everything is real

We see with more than eyes

Something you'll never feel

But love for our craft becomes desire

and desire can be a curse

Becoming possesed into obsession

while moving in a hearse

Captivating freedom comes with this life

It's risky and bold

You must be willing to sacrifice

And I shall never understand

the enchantments in my head

For they're the ones that tell me

what can be said

performance poetry
