Amethyst Skies

The dusk bleeds amethyst

And rust

And some hints of baby pink.

I gaze at its beauty

Out of the window

Facing the sun

That sets faithfully

Everyday.

It’s too cold

To follow the trail

That would frame the view

Perfectly.

So I settle for the confines

Of the window panes.

The day has led to regret.

Mistakes made,

Tasks left undone,

Ill-intentioned words

Spewed

Never to return to their origin,

Leaving a stain on relationships

That I hold most dear.

But amethyst skies

Remind me softly

That today is being laid to rest

And with it forgiveness and grace

Come to me,

Gently soothing my troubles

And then re-framing

My struggles

In new light

As the darkness creeps

Through the sky.
