Am I Greater Than Thee?

Measure me world! What’s my greatest extent?

Don’t hold back, for I shall not resent.

For am I greater than thee?

Surely you cannot tell me the oak is greater than I.

Ha! To say this unto me, it’ll surely be a lie.

Silence is ‘golden’, that’s what they say to me.

But isn’t silence also that swaying, creaking of a tree?

The piercing shards of golden sunlight reflecting off the pool.

“Come inside”, they’ll chatter to me, thy water is liquid cool.

But am I greater than thee?

River “oh” whence you came? Where’s thy origin of place?

Still, I use you as a mirror, to look unto the worries of my face.

Alas! Creature stalking in the bush, what is it that you fear?

Why it’s me that’s stomping by, disturbing this slumbering deer.

The misty twilight breaks upon the rushing day.

Lighting my roads, and paths, showing me my way.

Still, am I greater than thee?

Really, can you tell me the meadow is lovelier than me?

But when I gaze upon thee, then I can truly see.

Because all these domains, are all treasures of delight.

Which makes my question unknowable, for who can say is right?

Can I really ask you the question that I gave?

Because you nurture me from my cradle to me grave.

Brilliance is thee.

And greater are we…
