Always Knew

Him

By Honey Graham Published 4 years ago 1 min read
Love at the Post Office

I always knew

You’re the start in my abyss,

The laughter in the night sky.

You have a way of both grounding me

And raising me up with a glance, a chuckle and a hug.

You’re always my reason to stay

And my kick in my arse today

You’re a tranquilizer and a narcotic

I always knew

I’d never be unwise enough to leave

All at the same time even if it makes me psychotic.

You’re my atoma of lavender that frightens the night terrors away

While your voice calms all my fears away

You’re a wildfire or desire that I long for

while the touch of your skin is mesmerizing

You listened when it wasn’t easy so you understand

While others gave up a long time ago to understand

In fact you always seem to understand me

Better than I understand me.

As my first and last breath

Linear time gave up a long time ago

In fact time never mattered anyway

When you are close

In my heart,

Forever you will be written as a tattoo with only your name written

Forgetting you was always impossible

Loving you was always possible.

Making love to you was always my best

Losing you was always the worst.

Yet I see you as my spirit guide

A constant reassuring presence that angels, like you, do in fact exist on the terrestrial Earth.

Forgetting you was never possible.

Loving you will never be impossible.

You’re there to catch me when I fall

Even if you get blamed for being in the right place at the wrong time.

Being with you was always my best

Seeing you with someone else was always my worst.

You’re the one person I think about ahead of everyone else (lest me.)

And the last and first of each day, at both moonlight and daylight

We met about three years ago at the Post Office

Even then, it felt as if I’ve known you for lifetimes
