Sitting together in the parked car, trying to focus on the text I will use to reach out but the absence of distraction pulls the focus to your sadness, although you make no sound. The calm is a welcomed change.

It is peaceful for a time, but the name for the feelings we share is louder than we express aloud.

Loneliness. No opinions, invitations, no warmth of conversation, no buzzing or rings of notifications. It is cool on this quiet night.

Everyone has devolved into their own stories and their own problems. There are

No vacancies for your sadness or mine. You and me against the world.

Cast aside to our own longings, shortcomings, achievements and

Existence. I am alone on this empty road, but alone with you.
