Alone Together: A Corona Crisis Collage
A Socially Distant Mural Installation

While living alone with underlying health issues and a stay-at-home order in Delray Beach, Florida, I knew I had to stay connected and stay active!
As a community motivator and public mural artist, I challenged other Palm Beach County artists to submit a square-sized creation of something relevant that they had made or that had inspired them during quarantine.
I felt the need to connect with other artists and inspire creativity during this unprecedented and isolating experience.
I sent out a Call to Artists online and incorporated 164 six-inch square artworks submitted by 113 artists. The works were created “inspired by or during” their time ALONE in the pandemic crisis.
The overwhelming results have kept my creative spirits intact while giving participants a sense of pride, purpose and recognition.
As a community artist, I spent March, April & May 2020, COVID-19 quarantine time, creating the three-dimensional, mixed-media, mural installation entitled ALONE TOGETHER: A Corona Crisis Collage… A Socially Distant Installation.
“My goal was to keep all artists productive and working! I built this large-scale mural in the confines of my home, while communicating with other artists, and within the limitations of my computer, my printer, ordering materials online… and my trusty Fiskars!
This undertaking has given me a great sense of sanity, in this insane world!
The 30-foot-wide mural was installed in the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County's North Gallery.
The 6-inch squares represent the 6-feet of Social Distancing, and the Heavenly Headlines are diagonally placed 14-inches apart to represent fourteen-days of Quarantine.
The mural was symbolically created in Honor of those lives lost to COVID-19.
A is for Antibodies that fight infection.
L is for always for Love.
O is for keeping your Mask ON!
N is for the New Normal.
E is for Education & Empathy.
TOGETHER 2020 … A year to be remembered!
Watch the creative process on YouTube, a step by step of the mural installation created at the beginning of the COVID Pandemic from March - June 2020. The mural includes 113 Artists who submitted 164 - 6-inch square images, 139 hand-cut Heavenly Headlines, 18 Toilet Paper Tubes, and 9 Alphanumeric Cut-outs made from Rigid Foam.
