Sometimes you laugh,
and for a moment,
I see the man I always wished for—
warm, open,
someone I could lean against.
But it never lasts.
The laugh dissolves into anger,
the kindness swallowed by pride.
You are an almost-father.
Almost safe.
Almost gentle.
Almost min
