All the Flags you Wave

A love poem

By Dolly J. MaassPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Proud to be.

I see your flags --

the silks you carry on your skin.

The colors of

strength,

courage

and love.

I see the look in your eye

when they say --

“you are Mexican”

“you are American”

like there’s not another way

of existing without borders,

like there aren’t other flags to wave.

I see which flag you wave

the proudest --

you gleam unraveled in

an eternal rainbow.

You glow.

Not in green, white, and red

nor red, white, and blue

but

in the colors of

happiness

beauty

and love.

You are proud

to have two cultures,

but

You are proud

To Be.
