Where can I run

That you won’t find me

I feel so ashamed and

Am full of guilt and anguish

I know I’ve hurt you

Because of what I’ve done

Wracked with remorse

And I’m feeling so small

The shadows aren’t deep enough

The skies are too wide

My only retreat is under Your Wings

But then you’ll know everything!

You know it all anyway sooo…

I come before You hanging my head

With tears in my eyes as I confess my wrongs

Just waiting…. For judgement

But instead, You gently lift my chin

And with a start I see Your sorrows match mine

Not because of shame but because

You understand my self inflicted pain

“My Child” You say with such tenderness

“All is not lost! My Son erased your sins

No need to hide, your shame is gone

Remember I KNOW you

For your name is engraved on My heart and Hand”

sad poetry

About the Creator

Linda Bromley

Just one of many creative outlets for me has been books! My whole life I’ve loved them and it’s so easy to make the jump to writing.

Recently I completed a poetry challenge and now, looking for more excuses to write, I’ve found myself here!
