All but another day

… that’s come again.

All but another day that's come again,

a duplicate, a musical reprise.

An awakening that would task this pen

with a think-well task - one of great surprise.

.

What stamp might give this day its special note?

Maybe the wisdom of some wise guy's quote,

What stamp might make this day of days discrete?

Maybe the hero's mission that's now complete.

.

What chance might give this day its special gift?

Maybe the rising sun that gives it lift,

What chance might make this day a day of praise?

Maybe the carefree child that both works and plays.

.

This day, like all the rest, will come and go;

perchance, there may be something left to show.

.

Tim Grace

A first impression has a lasting effect - it makes a notable difference. In a subtle way that’s who I am as a poet. A ‘first impression’ looking for the gentle ‘twist’ that draws attention to a novel observation.
