All At Once

Her bright eyes sparkled in awe, newly open into her innocent world. More breathtaking than anything she could have ever imagined. Calm sets in, as does the sun, kissing the mountains as they turn deep purple. Peach skies and marshmellow clouds stretched gracefully above her as their gazes met for the first time. Darkness swept over them, slowly at first but then all at once. Her eyes stapled shut.

It was deep and intense, that kind of love that bends your soul and combines it with another; Slowly at first but then all at once. It gripped tighter and took her breath away; White knuckles. Mangled bones under perfect skin, almost invisible to the naked eye. He latched onto her heart and covered it with barbed wire and keept it guarded as he began to embed himself into her mind, parasite.

Aggressive silence broken by shards of glass as they hit the kitchen floor, as did her tears; Slowly at first but then all at once. All too familiar words that ripped through her skin, tattered. She forced her own eyes open for the first time in a long time, and their gazes reunited; Triumph burned from his core like it was his life force.
