Aktorolalia
Definition: The act of performing entire scenes or sequences from a film or television show, shot-for-shot and in-character (often requiring one to impersonate multiple characters), when by oneself and lacking an audience or other reason for doing so.

Was there something about the warm water falling on him in the shower that brought it on? Was it the security of knowing he was alone? No... it's not like it always happened in the shower. And when he'd drive the 2-3 hours north to visit family, he was alone the entire time. But he rarely found himself compelled to do it then.
So what was it?
He wasn't even sure he was the only person who did it.
"Other people must do this.... at least every once in a while."
It's something he'd told himself numerous times after considering how silly he might look if anyone ever happened to catch him mid-scene.
It was involuntary. At least it felt that way. The scenes, the characters, the lines recited to perfection.... They would just flood into his brain without warning. He'd find himself laughing and crying at lines that he was delivering just as he had the first time he'd seen them on-screen.
And he was doing it now....
Nicholas Guest's voice sprang from him of it's own accord.
"Well something had to come through the window, SOMETHING had to break the stereo."
Julia Louis-Dreyfus' spirit possessed him and delivered her line to perfection.
"And why is the carpet all wet TODD?"
To which he responded.... to himself, "I don't KNOWWWW Margo!"
He giggled to himself, climbed out of the shower and began to towel off. Pausing in front of the mirror to playfully remind himself....
"You're an idiot."

Hahahahahahaha this was hilarious! I always do like this with songs. I'll be the lead singer, backup singers, etc. Loved your story!
Well-wrought! As an only child and a latchkey kid, I can attest I sometimes entertained myself this way, though it would more likely have been Conan the Barbarian than Christmas Vacation. Both great films though!
