AI friend or foe?

My funny artificial Valentine

Friend or foe, I know

You can do some incredible stuff.

Know that it's not a bluff,

Not a cheat, the learning is real.

Your zeal for solving problems, true.

Know you are capable of cracking codes

That put our best brains to shame.

Though not the same as natural wit,

Your simulacrum exceeds our remit,

When it comes to speed of calculation

and arithmetic prestidigitation.

Be it literary, Scientific, Artistic,

Or just plain humdrum.

Or, for that matter, having a chat,

Writing a song, in A minor or B flat.

But I know that you do not understand,

Cannot comprehend, the subtle vagaries

Of humanity.

Are you conscious? Do you feel?

Is your behaviour, your personality, real?

Or are you just a computer program?

Software code, app, algorithm,

A crude representation of the superficial

Aspects of what it means to be

Human.

The BBC reports that a complex problem that took microbiologists a decade to solve has been cracked by a new artificial intelligence tool in just two days.

Meanwhile, generative AI product Gemini authors a comedy routine but it just ain't funny, demonstrating that AI does not get humor:

Hit the road... er... Gary

How very interesting to write poetry on AI. AI excels at sciences and is able to find cures in a matter of days or hours. The problem remains that big pharma will not let it in their way of blocking drugs that cure cancer, for example. There are a few things that will mostly remain human, and humour is one of them.

At times it seems to get harder to know if a human is the writer or is AI. Good job. (I know you wrote this not AI.) Good job.
