After midnight

A poetry

After midnight I wake up to my dreams,

I wish to live

I wish to love.

After midnight, I want to be alive again.

The dark sky is my home,

the cold walls are my heart,

shivers run up my spine and I feel fear

as one does when still breathing.

Halfway down the nightmare

I wish to wake up again

I wish to seek the morning and hold a hand

warm enough to calm my frozen skin.

After midnight I live more,

hope higher.

After midnight I’m a passenger on a ship

in the middle of the sea.

No shore in sight

yet my eyes follow the stars.
