Act Woke, It's a Joke!

On the 1st of a Month,

Companies want to act “woke”

“Happy Pride!”, “BLM!”

It’s a joke!

They do it for profit, for years they never spoke

They want to make themselves feel better

But their egos just want to be stroked

They “accept” us in June & February

But when we call them out the rest of the year

They panic and get scary

Companies wave pride flags

Pretend there is no homophobia

But, come July 1st, they go back to Dystopia

In February We Say “Happy Black History”

But when March 1st comes, racial equality is history

In March We celebrate women

By April 1st it’s “good riddance”

In June We wave the rainbow flag

By July, you go back to throwing the flag in a bag

Welcome Back to Dystopia!

Where we still oppress anyone not a straight, white male

Where companies/corporations do the bare minimal

Ignore their bias and try to derail

You don’t care about diversity

You care about profit

You want to see how much influence

How much money you get off of it

You pretend to care for a month

And feel “it’s enough”

Then go back to not seeing

That the oppress still have it rough!

So when I look at you waving a multi-color flag

I don’t take you serious; it’s a joke

We will soon go back to Dystopia

Bet you are glad you’re done being “woke”
