Abusive Addiction

Because I allow myself to be sucked in.

By Jack RabbitPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

Sparking up another drag,

Lights up in the dark like a candle,

Behind it are my lips locked on,

In a romantic embrace,

We share this moment together.

I want this one to last forever,

The feelings I’m getting are real,

Happiness over the price of my health,

Self-worth from the sacrifice,

An anesthetic for the pain,

Derivative that of where I do not know.

But when the flame dies out,

The ashes are the only evidence left,

Of all the time that we shared,

The price of my happiness for it’s fun,

The sacrifice of my self-worth for its self-indulgence,

To act as your painkiller.

But still, in the end,

I find another one,

And spark up another drag.
