Above the twenty third floor

pretending I'd rather live

I stand on the edge of tomorrow

unsure of what I did borrow

in the night looking at death's shadow

spent a life too narrow

Above the twenty third floor

glass mirrors the fractured soul

Death awaits with a open door

possibly I'm just part of the whole

a lone figure against a candle of stars

I float in this suspended moment

caught between the weight of yesterday and today's wars

in between pull of gravity and the sparkling resent

Every breath is a gamble

hearts shiver gently

Won't you bet on your scars?

before it disappears far

I end up pretending I'd rather live
