Aaliyah and Me

A poetic conversation between R&B queen Aaliyah and myself

By Joe PattersonPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

Aaliyah, is it really you?

Yes, Joe it’s really true.

You watched me from above?

Of course. You and so many others feed my legacy with love.

On the day that you died it really shocked me, it stopped me.

But my soul rested well knowing you never forgot me.

How could I? You were the voice of my childhood.

It warms my heart knowing I made the life of a child good.

To this day we make sure that the sounds of your music never cease.

Your love of my legacy is soul’s peace.

Dear Aaliyah, your spirit is still sublime.

My love for you all is something words can’t define.

23 years later we still love and miss you.

My spirit watches all. In the distance I hug and kiss you.
