A World Apart

A Full Moon Poem

By Vikki HeadPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

I open my eyes yet again to a new world.

A place so strange and yet familiar.

I've been here before, the twinkling lights. Fairy lights.

And I remember something else.

A look from someone I don't remember the smell of anymore.

Why do I still see your face? Why is it that time and space can't

erase it?

During the day, everything is the same.

But at night you come back to me. The same smile, but with a twist.

Your eyes crinkle in the corners like they did long, long ago.

You're just a dream though.

A memory.

A ghost.

But still, in my dreams, so real.

Different places, different backgrounds. The smile is the same, it never changes. It can't. You can't. Only a memory. A dream, lost long ago.
