A Wish
Short and Sweet Challenge
I sat in the hush of a day turn to dusk
With the wind at my back
And a wish upon my lips .
I shut my eyes
And cast my wish out
To the glow of the moon,
And the only star lit high in the sky.
.
I held onto hope that fate did hear
The wish I had laid at her feet.
But as the days went by
And year by year
With each new tear
That fell from sad eyes
I felt all hope was lost
.
But then...
.
You held out your hand to lure me in
With the soft lilt of a song
Sung just for me;
My mind did warn my ears.
Too good to be true?
Was this all for real?
Or just part of the plan
For fate to make a fool out of me?
.
But alas your kiss,
Was the key to set me free.
To tear down the wall
That kept me safe
That hid what I felt
What I did not want to say.
I let go of my fear
And dove in deep.
I fell so fast
I was not able to turn back.
.
I swam in awe at the blue of your eyes.
An ache and burn hit me at my core.
Lost in the lust
Of skin to skin
But more than that
With your soul tied to mine
It’s the look in your eyes
When not a word is said at all.
.
I sit in the hush
Of a day turn to dusk
But now with you at my side.
Fate did hear
And she gave me my wish;
To find my true love at last.
