A winter wondering
Mother Nature’s comfort

With our latest book playing we have arrived at our peaceful place.
One paw at a time booties go on. Winter coat slips over head, and velcro fastens.
A silver travels down my spine as I balance on each foot using the car door.
Having to remember one foot then the other for pants and then again for boots.
Swaying like a tree faced with a strong breeze. Flexiable and strong
Finger fumble, and struggle eventually zip goes the coat
Laughter fills the air as the pup prances to the familiar trail head.
Up up we go. With every sharp winter breath the pressure on my chest lessons
The snow softly crunches, and the worldly worries start to disappear
Deeply breathing in, my brain slows, calms, and focuses
Our mountains are calling to us to seek their comfort, and prospective
Untouched snow ahead, our prints behind remind us to reset our minds
This is our place. The place we go to seek comfort from our Mother Nature.
Like a child curling up, seeking the warmth and love of its mother’s arms
Our trail provides with frosty eyelashes, and snow flakes caught on the tongue
Leaving only foot prints that will blow away with the wind, be covered with snow
A gentle reminder that everything is temporary
