From deep primeval winter,

roused from a stubborn sorcery of stone

and this cemetery of long-foresaken clay, --

the thawing rain, which blesseth the barren

Earth, awakens the innocent blossom,

to spring up all anew and, draped in regal raiment,

Rejoice.
