A walk in the park
a sonnet remembering our first date together

We went for a walk that day in April
through the quiet park with overcast sky.
I could not pull my eyes away, grateful
in that moment, all I could do is sigh.
We had a treat, our snow cones together.
Even though yours was made much too sour.
I was lost in your deep eyes and whether
or not I would lose track of all my hours.
But I start, I have not seen them lately
except in dreams and visions that come.
That piercing gaze which vexes me greatly,
perfectly vivid like a rule of thumb.
Your blue eyes, cherried lips, and wind blown hair
What else to do, but be speechless and stare.
