A tale of woe

A shattered heart, too fragile to mend,

By Rose Wanjiku KimaniPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

In shadows' embrace, my heart does weep,

A tale of sorrow, in silence, I keep,

Through tear-stained verses, my pain I trace,

A melancholy song, my soul's embrace.

In twilight's glow, where dreams once soared,

Now broken wings, forever ignored,

The echo of laughter, a distant chime,

Lost in the depths of the sands of time.

Each day, a struggle, a battle within,

A shattered heart, too fragile to mend,

With every sunrise, a tearful plea,

To feel again, to be set free.

Memories haunt like ghostly wraiths,

In the lonely night, their torment baits,

Through whispered sighs, my spirit strains,

Searching for solace, as hope wanes.

A requiem plays, a mournful score,

A life once vibrant, now so sore,

In this sea of grief, I slowly drown,

An empty smile, a tear-stained crown.

Oh, world so cruel, why must you be,

A canvas of pain, unfathomably?

So here I stand, with this pen, I cope,

Writing this sad poem, a tale of woe.
