A Summer Sonnet
A poem about how I meet my boyfriend during the summer of 2020.

Last summer, I was trapped inside my room.
Nothing made me happy. Nothing at all.
My poor heart was filled with despair and gloom.
Needing to escape, I joined a Zoom call.
My friend was there, and they brought someone new.
He was a writer and actor like me.
We talked for an hour. I had no clue
That I’d end the year being so happy.
I’ll admit that I was initially
Afraid to take this further down the road.
“What if I were to ruin everything?”
My fear sent me straight into panic mode.
I can now say without hesitation
That “I love him” is an understatement.
