A Star Named Naledi

From the Heart of a Father

By Nadia IrisPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

A timeless end. Infinite start.

The moment that you were

A precious gem, a birthing star,

A pretty little her

Of all the things I knew before

My heart was not prepared

For how I felt that special day

Your shining soul was shared

And as each day begins again

My love expands so far

Gifts will not suffice this time

To tell you... you’re a Star

A love so real, one like mine

Is only that of Truth

Appreciation for you, my child

In this time that is your youth

Fear not my love, for I am here

Not to save the day…

But to remind you all the time:

You light your own pathway

You have the world within your heart

Beauty flowing out

Create a life that tells your truth

That’s what it’s all about

These words are simply ink expressed

Ideas in my mind

But always know that when it’s dark,

My Love you’ll always find

Thank you for just Who You Are

In both times of good and bad

You’ve made me proud and honored

To be called Naledi’s dad
