A sonnet from a mother's soul

On a summer day- a poetic memoir

Days of my youth wandered with airy mirth.

Seasons adorned life with heavenly charm,

yet void and deprived of what I was worth.

Until a day marked for me to transform. (4)

The soul no more barren with sprouting seed,

began to hunt the warmth concealed in me.

My endurance - destiny's boon indeed,

still a fortune for the blooming baby. (8)

Unknowing my heart outgrew to achieve,

motherhood on a day sunny and hot.

Though aching was my body - not to grieve.

A Wonder you are, born to soothe my heart. (12)

Beautiful is the blazing sun, I thought.

prettier is your guileless smile, I sought
